Handmade Paper Flowers

Whew, Sorry I haven't blogged in a few weeks! After the holidays it seems things slow down but its so dark and cold outside I don't want to leave my house! Still I have to go to work so I go out and scrape ice off the car and shiver all the way to work. I'm lucky I don't live in the snow, I wouldn't want to go anywhere until spring, all of you who live in the snow have my utmost admiration for sure!

Today I wanted to show you some of my handmade flowers. The method I like best is to run card stock through my die cut machine with a flower Sizzix Die. I mix some ink on my Ranger Craft Sheet with a little bit of water to soak the layer for the flowers, then scrunch them up and heat dry with my heat gun.

Here are some of my favorites.

I have a link to a video that shows you how to make the burlap flowers, these are great for outdoors!

Burlap flowers using the Tim Holtz Tattered Flowers die. I made these around Halloween, don't you love how they came out? I added a ton of glitter but the camera didn't pick that up to well, below is the video tutorial I watched before I tried making them.

Front Cover of my First Mini Album

I have started making my first Mini Album, I have seen so many beautiful ones on youtube and on blogs that I thought I might try my hand at one (I know, I will have to use some of my horde of paper but...) so this is what I have come up with so far. I seem to gravitate to vintage colors and motifs so the background is distressed paper from DCWV, flowers are iamroses and some Petaloo. Bling is Michael's recollections, gears are Tim Holtz dies I glittered up with black glitter. The eyes are Graphic 45 inside a recollection frame with brads I had in my stash.

The stick pin I made myself using corsage pins that I added some beads to and glued with glossy accents. You should try making your own stick pins they are super easy and you can add whatever colors go with your project at the time.

So what do you all think of my Mini Album Cover? I like it but am not sure if I should put a phrase or name on it, what do you think?

Christmas Gift Envelopes

Every year at Christmas I try and make a special handmade paper craft item for my two children and both my grand kids. This year, Since my grandson in now a teenager I wanted to make something I could put a gift card and note in. I came up with these two pocket mini cards to do just that,

The cards were very simple to make, I used a plain white envelope 4 by 9 inches. I folded the envelope to 4 by 5, snipped of the ends and added my favorite Christmas papers on them which this year was Kaiser Craft, My Minds Eye and of course Graphic 45!

I used the front pocket for the gift cards and the back for a little handwritten note to each of them. They really loved received these and were touched by my note cards (I always say mushy things to them in my notes lol)

The card on the right I actually used an old Christmas Greeting card left over from last year!
